Abortion Pills
-
A medical abortion—often called the abortion pill—is a safe, non-invasive way to end an early pregnancy, typically within the first 12 weeks. It involves taking two medications: mifepristone and misoprostol.

What to expect
Step 1: Consultation
During your visit at Midwest Reproductive Health, our provider will review your medical history, confirm how far along you are, and walk you through the process—answering any questions you have.Step 2: Mifepristone
The first pill, mifepristone, blocks the hormone progesterone, which is needed to maintain a pregnancy. Without it, the uterine lining begins to break down.Step 3: Misoprostol
One to two days later, misoprostol is taken to empty the uterus, similar to a heavy period. You may experience cramping and bleeding for several hours to a few days. We’ll provide clear instructions for comfort and care, and let you know when to reach out for medical support.Aftercare
Most people recover quickly, but we offer follow-up care and support if symptoms persist or you have concerns. -
